CLINKER CULTURE

The architectural blog KLINKERKULTUR (clinker culture) discusses everything worth knowing about building with clinker bricks. This includes the special technical features of fired clay, its haptic and optic as well as the roots of its craftsmanship. The interactive platform wants to make a contribution towards promoting discussions concerning the design quality of the clinker building material, to preserve the traditions of the mason’s trade and those of the bricklayer’s art and, at the same time, to enhance the recognition of clinker architecture.

ARCHITECT SEMINARS

Creating clinker architecture, thinking ahead and maintaining the building culture – to be part of this concept, the Hagemeister clinker factory regularly runs its clinker seminar for architects. Renowned planners and well-known speakers from the world of architecture hold exciting lectures on various subjects. The clinker factory promotes this regular exchange and, with its seminars, offers a forum for continuous further training – recognised by the nationwide chamber of architects. Discussions on red-hot topics takes place annually in the showroom of the clinker factory.

For over 13 years, national and international representatives from the architectural scene have been enriching the event with their contributions involving the core subject of “clinker façades”.

COOPERATION WITH UNIVERSITIES

As part of several days of student workshops, scholarships and endowment professorships at various universities, Hagemeister actively supports the teaching of architecture. The transmission of knowledge about the brick as well as its architectural importance and conveying the craft value of masonry is brought to life here every day. Professors, lecturers and students work intensively with master masons and expert consultants from the clinker factory and open up fascinating topic areas dealing with clinker architecture time and again.
