Inspirational long formats
- with Denis de Haan
Not far from Amsterdam city centre, on the old Cruquius industrial estate, sits a studio that is often occupied by its owner, working between huge stacks of clinker bricks and material samples: Denis de Haan.
Together with his wife, Patricia Griffejoen, de Haan runs the studio AMA, short for Architectural Material Amsterdam.
The studio is an inspiring showroom that shines the spotlight on a unique combination of brickwork, terrazzo, ceramics and natural stone. Its large display windows are full of mood boards that showcase the vibrant mix of materials at the heart of Denis’ work. The new focus: clinker bricks in long format.
Focusing on the
-haptic experience
The showroom’s large display windows allow the inspiration behind Denis’ creations to take centre stage: a variety of mood boards featuring carefully combined materials. The extremely varied texture combinations are the trademark of the Dutch designer, who describes himself as “at the interface between art and commerce”.
Denis has been a permanent partner of ours for years, because both Hagemeister and AMA Amsterdam have the same goal: We support architects and designers with material advice and support of the creative and construction process from design to implementation. The choice of materials plays an important role.
The Dutchman is always looking for timelessly beautiful combinations for building facades. His latest source of inspiration is our clinker brick in 365 format.
