Slim brick tiles

Tiles made of clay in a rectangular, narrow elongated brick format, used for cladding walls (e.g., in external thermal insulation composite systems) and floors, are referred to as clinker slips or birck tiles. They are available in all common clinker formats such as NF, DF, and 2DF. At Hagemeister, modular and long formats can also be produced as brick tiles. They have the same technical properties as facing bricks but are a slimmer version of them.
Brick tiles are usually 10 to 15 mm thick and are often used in exterior applications to clad thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS). Hagemeister also offers additional material thicknesses, such as 18 or 22 mm, which are ideal for masonry design featuring projections, recesses, bands, and much more. Together with the runner surface tiles, we produce matching corner tiles and special runner lintel corner tiles in a single firing. This package of product solutions enables ETICS constructions with clinker tiles that are visually indistinguishable from a conventionally brick-faced façade.

Hagemeister clinker brick tiles are cut from solid clinker. This is the only way to achieve their unique appearance and quality. Consequently, sawdust and scraps are inevitably produced during the manufacturing process. We reintegrate this waste back into the value chain as ground material, which is either used in clay processing or in our special upcycling production. Everything is aligned with our zero-waste approach.

Design potential
and personality
Clinker brick tiles are bonded to the flat substrate (e.g., an ETICS) using the buttering-floating method. The static laws of masonry construction are not binding here, opening up completely new design possibilities for facades. From a realistic imitation of masonry to artistically designed ornaments, everything is possible. There are no limits to creativity. The clinker thin brick is a versatile, expressive building material that is incomparable in its texture and appearance. Our clinker brick tiles are unique pieces.
Durable exterior wall cladding
Clinker tiles are used whenever full bricks cannot be employed in the facade for various reasons. A typical example of this is modern external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS). Brick tiles are ideally suited for the cladding of these systems.
Technical Processing Standards
For exterior applications, the standard DIN 18515-1 applies to external wall claddings with mortar-bonded tiles or panels; principles for planning and execution. According to this standard, a joint width of 4-6 mm must be maintained.

Technical Processing Standards
For interior applications, the standard DIN 18352 VOB (German Construction Contract Procedures) applies, part C: General Technical Terms and Conditions for Construction Services (ATV) – Tiling and Slab Work, which requires a joint width of 1-3 mm for brick tiles.

Clinker brick tiles require no maintenance or upkeep. They remain as beautiful as on the first day. In contrast to many other facade constructions, which can become unsightly after just a few years and require extensive renovation, a brick tiles facade does not need repainting or regular touch-ups.

Clinker brick tiles go through the fire at temperatures of around 1200 °C. This makes them extremely resistant to all weather conditions and mechanical impacts. Frost and heat, driving rain, and hail cannot harm ETICS facades with clinker thin bricks.
